Star-Touched #1
The Star-Touched Queen both fascinated and frustrated me. I absolutely love the Persephone myth and the idea of melding it with Indian mythology I found quite intriguing (note: I have no familiarity with Indian mythology, so I don’t know how much of this was taken from greek and how much was purely Indian). And while the world Chokshi created was lush and imaginative, the imagery beautiful and vivid, I found the plot to be unwieldy and convoluted, and the characters flat and underdeveloped. I had a lot of trouble connecting with the character’s and their story, though I enjoyed the lush world they lived in. And, as far as reimagining the Persephone myth goes, though, I enjoyed Meg Cabot’s Abandon series much better.
